We are Nikos & Georgia, a happy Greek couple who run Evia Private Tours along with other tourism & hospitality related businesses. We are the proud founders and owners of Writers’ Retreats in Greece, Evia Private Transfers and the mighty Greek Taxi in the amazing island of Evia.
We are going to organise your transportation, host you, treat you, spoil you, cook for you, show you around and eventually, make you feel like home and be part of our Big Fat Greek Family.
From April 2012 until February 2019, we travelled overland full-time, first in a Suzuki Grand Vitara 4X4 and then in a self-converted Toyota HiAce camper-van. Through the Pin Project -our epic travel project to put pins in the global map- we have visited more than 50 countries in Africa, Europe & America.
We have experienced a unique mix of kindness & hospitality from the vast majority of local people regardless of their culture, skin colour, religion, social status, education, etc.
Hence, we have a deep understanding about hospitality, not to mention our Greek origins and the Zeus Xenios.
We have stayed & worked in 5-star safari lodges in Tanzania & Zimbabwe, a fishing lodge in Canada, a mountain lodge in Ecuador, a boutique hotel/ art space in Mexico, a guesthouse in Perú, a rafting company in Canada as well as countless local houses, farmsteads and campgrounds.
In March 2019, we decided to retire from our long trip around the world, settle down in our homeland & dedicate ourselves to the tourism & hospitality sector of our own country.
We organise, prepare & schedule everything with smile, meraki & filotimo.
Meraki is the word that we Greeks use to describe what happens when you leave a piece of yourself -your soul, creativity & love– in whatever you do.
On the other hand, filotimo is considered to be the highest of all Greek virtues, the standards for family and social living. In its simplest form, the term means “doing good”.
For a Greek, it is essentially a way of life. It includes values such as honour, justice, courage, dignity, pride, self sacrifice, respect, freedom, gratitude and hospitality!
It is the words we use as our most important “ingredients” in the creation of memorable services.
In a nutshell, Evia Private Tours goes beyond typical sightseeing tours. We tell the story of Evia through handcrafted cultural experiences that highlight the intricacies and uniqueness of Evia’s small towns and big cities. We create immersive experiences ranging from a modest fig farm in Kymi to the never-ending energy of Chalkida’s phenomenal and precise currents.
We literally set out to change the way the island is explored. Evia Private Tours was created with the dream that this Evia, in all of its glory, would eventually become a travel destination drawing people from around the world. With little more than a dream and vision, the company was built on a foundation of unwavering quality, exceptional service and unmatched creativity and has since been elevated to one of the leading shore excursion providers in the island.
Not to mention our online initiatives and continuous online content creation in an attempt to link the dots within the island and create a solid network of local producers and businesses who offer the best possible products and services.
Today, Evia Private Tours is a successful company offering tailor made trips, retreats, private transfers and vacation packages in Evia and beyond. Never accepting the status quo, we continue to push the envelope and catapult Evia’s tourism travel industry onto the global stage.
